Coach Ashley Lewis is entering her third year as Head Junior Varsity Basketball Coach at Rome Free Academy.  Coach Lewis is very passionate about basketball.  It was a huge part of her life growing up.  She was a four-year varsity player for Whitesboro High School and was selected captain for both her junior and senior years.  During the off season Coach Lewis played AAU basketball for the Utica Lady Knicks.  Being a part of the Lady Knicks allowed Coach Lewis to excel her skills and build her knowledge of the game.  She played in several tournaments, including attending Junior Nationals in Washington D.C., an experience she will never forget.  

 

Coach Lewis attended Cazenovia College where she received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Psychology and was a member of their basketball team.  She was a four-year starter for Cazenovia and selected captain her junior and senior years.  While playing for Cazenovia, Coach Lewis achieved many accomplishments.  She was selected for All-Conference Team her junior year, Most Valuable Player her junior and senior years, selected North Eastern Athletic Conference player of the week several times and received many sportsmanship and scholar-athlete awards.

 

Coach Lewis is grateful for the opportunity to coach in Rome and give back all of the valuable lessons, skills and knowledge she has learned throughout the years, both on and off the court.  She is excited to be a part of such a great program and excellent community.  She looks forward to many years working with the girls’ basketball program.  

 

Coach Lewis is in her fourth year as a School Counselor in the Rome City School District.  She has worked at Clough Pre-School, Denti Elementary, Gansevoort Elementary, and is now in her third year at Ridge Mills Elementary School.  Along with working in the district she also lives in the city of Rome.  She loves her job, the community, and enjoys working with children.
